CARLOS COLON

I’m a Dallas Native, that has moved West to pursue his dreams. I have been running since I was 14 years old (24 now). I ran my first cross country race as a freshman in high school and fell in love with it. I continued to learn more about the sport, and I was able to get a full ride scholarship to run in college. I ran at Ranger College where I obtained my associates degree in sports science. I qualified for the national cross country meet both my freshman and sophomore year of college. Shortly, after my 2 years were up, I transferred to UT Permian Basin to continue my bachelors degree. I competed for their cross country team and was part of the 2018 team that finished top 3 in their respective conference for D2 NCAA. I graduated from UTPB with a bachelors of Kinesiology in Sports & Science. Now, I continue to run and love the sport that has given me so many opportunities. I have coached athletes in the past and helped them achieve their goals. I look forward to helping many more and inspiring the next person to achieve their goals.

ROBERT GOMEZ

Born and raised in Midland,Tx grew up playing sports football, basketball, choir, dancing and anything active. Went through life without a path until meeting my wife in 2000 that started our family journey with four wonderful kids, 3 boys and a girl.

The kids are what got me into running like most men getting comfortable and overweight I needed to get back into shape. The local elementary (Fannin) started an after school run program where the final race would lead to what was then the blood gusher. So in 2013 I decided to take on the challenge and run my 1st 5k.  Came in 3rd place at a 7:36 pace at 23:42. This is what started my passion and what the mind and body can achieve if I just put time and dedication into it.
I got back into the church where I felt the need to be around people with the same passion with Christian values so I decided to start my own running group Midland Run Crew. Started in 2016, it began as a mens running group that since has evolved to a great group of friends, men ,women and family sharing the same passion of running. Building relationships and encouraging others to achieve their goals. Since the ran multiple 5k's, a handful of 10ks, 5 half marathons, 2 full marathons and a dozen 50k trail runs, and working on another 50k for the fall. 100 miler will be my next challenge TBD!😀

MARTIN VEGA

I am a proud Permian native and a product of the unique environment and spirit of the people here. My running and health journey started during my young adult years at Midland College. I was overweight and in a bad place mentally. One day, a community member/friend ran 100 miles in Virginia and I was inspired! Being extremely naive, never having run longer than 5 miles in my whole life, and weighing over 300lbs, I signed up for a 50 mile run that I DNF(did not finish) at 35 miles.

I have learned a few things about running since then. In 2019, I completed Sky Island trail run 50k and Marathon2Marathon road half-marathon. I also lost 90+ lbs! In January of 2021, I completed the Bandera 100K and lost another 30lbs!

Walking and running helped me regain my health. My weight has always been and continues to be an obstacle for me. Running allows me to work on my health daily, as well as, it has created some of my best friendships.

My daily motivation to be healthy is for my wife, Jennifer, and my three sons. My example for health creates a healthy family unit! I have huge goals for the health of my children!

In the midst of my personal training and fitness growth, we were able to start Midland Athletic Company. Our business is an overflow of the passion I have for health and wellness.
